Hill Medal - Awarded to the most Outstanding Scholar.

Awarded to :  Mr ............. ( 2008 ) 

 Samuel Hill was born at Launceston in 1853. In 1879 he was appointed to South Ceylon, and soon gained the esteem of his brethren by gentleness, firmness, unremitting diligence, perseverance and determination to succeed. After a brief period of work as Principal of Richmond College, he served Wesley College Colombo. He was one of the saintliest men that ever came out to the East. His entire conduit showed the beauty of holiness; his religion and his life were one. He was a man of meek and amiable disposition; his life blameless and transparent. He was a successful preacher, a true friend and a wise administrator. By the force of holy example he allured others to brighter worlds and led the way.' His life was out short at thirty two, but it was crowded with activities. "We live in deeds not years." "If you fear, Cast all your care on God: that anchor holds."

 

Sir Oliver Goonatilleke Award - awarded for 

Awarded to :  Mr ............. ( 2008 ) 

Sir Oliver Ernest Goonetilleke GCMG., KCVO, KBE,KSTJ, DLL, BA. (1892 - 1978) is without doubt the most illustrious product of Wesley College. He was born on October 20th 1892 in Trincomalee. From humble beginnings an Assistant Teacher at Wesley he blazed a career to the highest position in the land.

Daniel John Gogerly the greatest man that Methodism ever gave to Ceylon arrived in 1818. He came as a layman to take up work as printer and press manager. He was ordained in 1823 and became an outstanding scholar. He was Chairman of the South Ceylon District for twenty four years and died in Ceylon, never once having gone to England on furlough.
